Do You Have What it Takes to be an ICT Professional and Future Leader?

If you have what it takes, the CIO Academy program may be the ideal way for you to secure a bright future as an Information Communication Technology (ICT) professional. Do you have what it takes?

We are looking for 30 young future leaders for the CIO Academy. We will provide training and mentorship as part of a 1 year program. The aim of the CIO Academy is to produce ICT professionals and future leaders. It will focus on skills that are in demand so as to facilitate needed skills injection into the market.

Ideally, you are a graduate of a 3 year diploma or degree in a computing related qualification:

Information Systems

Information Technology

Computer Science

Software Engineering

Computer Engineering

If you only hold a matric certificate, you are welcome to apply. We are looking for young people with the "right stuff" - the right attitude, determination to succeed and to overcome challenges.

The CIO Academy program can be summarized as follows:

30 Young Candidates (post matrics between the ages of 18 and 30) will qualify for the program based on CVs, interviews and leadership attributes.

1 Year Full Time the program is a full time course with intensive training in the first 6 months daily.

Training Funded the cost is only R3000.00 per student for one year which can be funded via corporate sponsorship. No salaries or allowance will be provided and students must make arrangements for living costs.

Previously Disadvantaged at least 75% of the candidates selected will from a previously disadvantaged background but applications are open to all irrespective of race, religion or gender.

Cape Town Based the program is offered is currently offered only in Cape Town and will be run as a pilot in 2011.

The CIO Academy program combines 3 main elements of training and mentorship:

Training and Certification in one of two industry skills that are in current demand

Mentorship and Workshops on business and technology disciplines such as business analysis and systems design as well as communication and leadership

Project Experience to address a real-world problem and working in a systems "factory model"

With our partners Oracle and IBM, we will facilitate training and certification in industry related ICT skills which are currently in high demand. The CIO Academy will provide further mentorship and workshops on business and technology disciplines to help prepare you for working in an enterprise. You will also be given work experience in a project to understand systems development and delivery. You will work in teams using a knowledge, systems and software "factory models" which will help you to understand general and specialist roles as well as giving you exposure to the application of ICT methodologies.

	The research community and forum is open to Chief Information Officers (CIOs), Academics, Professionals, Industry, Corporates, Government, Graduates, Students and other stakeholders.
	CenCRA and the CIO Forum provides CIOs with insight into the academic program, research and initiatives being undertaken by participating universities. It also enables academics to share, learn and engage with key decision makers in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector.
	Our desire is to connect people and breakdown barriers. We build relationships with those who are active on the ground and passionate about making a difference. The online forum and events are managed through social networks. Social networks avoid bureaucracies, remove impediments and build bridges that connect individuals directly.
